ISG - International School of Gemology (online only)
Overview
ISG – The International School of Gemology is a one-man-show operated by gemologist Robert James of Helotes, Texas. Notorious for spreading false information about mythical non-existent gemstone treatments such as “dyefusion” and “color infused” which have been widely debunked by respected gemological experts such as Chris Smith of AGL New York and the AGA – Accredited Gemologists Association, ISG should be avoided by anyone serious about a genuine education in gemology.
Offering fancy sounding titles such as RG – Registered Gemologist and RGA – Registered Gemologist Appraiser, ISG is widely regarded as a “Diploma Mill” as these titles are not recognised anywhere in the gem and jewelry trade.
WARNING Robert James was kicked out of the American Gem Trade Association in September 2022 for grievous ethics violations.
